Choosing a size

What if my dog is in-between sizes? 

Sometimes you might find that your dog is in-between sizes.
For example, if your dog has a 19" girth, they could fit into either a Small harness (adjustable from 15"-20") or a Medium harness (adjustable from 18"-25").

If your dog is in-between sizes and under 12-months, is a breed that develops a thick winter coat or if you'd like to place the harness outside your pup's jacket during the winter, we recommend sizing-up to ensure that there is enough room for further adjustments. If you find that your dog's weight or coat does not fluctuate significantly throughout the year or your dog doesn't wear a winter jacket, then opting for a fit that is spot-on may also be an option. When in doubt, we recommend selecting the larger of the two sizes they fit in.

Shopping by weight vs. breed

If this is your first purchase with us, we recommend measuring your pup first to ensure the very best fit!

AKC-recognized breeds generally have a standard weight guideline however depending on the breed, this may vary by a full size or more in one of our products (in a Briard for example, the standard weight ranges from 55-100lbs!).
If you are not able to measure your pup, we recommend shopping by weight to find the appropriate size.

Our size chart features weight-ranges for reference to help find the appropriate size. 

Please note that as each item is made-to-order with your own unique choice of hardware and fabric selections, all sales are final and are not eligible for returns or exchanges. Measuring your pup's neck circumference or girth will ensure you're selecting the appropriate size.

What size should I get for a puppy?

It can be difficult to recommend a size for a puppy based on breed alone, especially mixed breed pups however each of our collars and harnesses are adjustable to accommodate different neck circumferences and girths.

Many customers have found the following suggestions to be helpful when shopping for a puppy:

Small breeds (< 20lbs as adults) typically fit into our size Small at around 7 months old.
This size would carry them into their adult years, however, depending on the breed (such as Pugs who need extra room to accommodate their stockier neck), a Medium may be required later on.

Medium breeds (< 50lbs as adults) typically start in a Small, eventually graduating to a size Medium (or Large depending on the specific breed such as Bulldogs who need extra room to accommodate their stockier neck). 

Large breeds (< 80lbs as adults) typically wear a Small at 8-weeks, graduating to a Large at approximately 5-months. 

Giant breeds (< 140lbs as adults) typically buy their dog's first collar in a Medium, eventually graduating to a Large and if greater than 115lbs, may eventually require an XL.

Choosing a Style

Should I get a collar or a harness for my dog? 

If you own a small breed dog that pulls on-leash, we always recommend using a harness over a collar.
Too much pressure in the neck from pulling can lead to heatlh problems such as a collapsed trachea and we will always advise that you select the item that ensures the wellbeing of your pup!

If you have a large breed dog, this issue is not as prevalent but if you find that pulling is still a concern, a harness may be a better option as it offers the ability to clip the leash in the front or back of their harness for added control on your walks.

The convenient step-in style of the Danes & Divas harness features adjustable sizing with 3 adjustable points which allow for a comfortable, custom, no-fuss fit for your pup!
Each size tier offers a generous adjustable range and are outfitted with two optional leash attachment points both in the front and back of the harness to allow for more control as needed within one streamlined, versatile design!

What will hold up best to my dog's lifestyle?

Lazy Bones
If your dog tends to lounge around the house when they're not out for a walk or running errands with you, our entire collection of cotton textile collars (excluding occasional wear items) are perfect for their needs!

The Adventurer
If you and your dog frequent the dog park, the beach, go hiking or camping, we recommend going with our Premium Canvas line with Black Plastic (Acetal) Buckles.


Know that not every dog loves to wear collars 24/7.
While our products are tailored for dogs, they are not indestructible.

If you notice that the fabric or webbing starts to show significant signs of wear from scratching or chewing, your dog may not be comfortable in their collar and may need it to either be loosened or removed when indoors. Just be sure they are wearing some form of identification, whether it be an engraved collar or ID tag if they're outdoors –even if just catching some rays in the backyard!

The most common type of damage to any material is abrasion. Whether it's your favorite tee, jeans, or pair of shoes, alternating items throughout the year will extend the life of any item!

Shipping & Delivery

We use all major carriers, and local courier partners. You’ll be asked to select a delivery method during checkout.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes we do!
Orders shipping internationally and overseas will be shipped with your choice of DHL or Canada Post (with final delivery by your country's national post). Shipping rates for your area calculated at checkout.
International order are subject to import taxes and brokerage/processing fees.
While your shipping charge includes the cost of shipping and handling, this does not include import duties and taxes that may be charged at the discretion of your country's customs agency.
These charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer/importer. 

International shipments may be subject to customs inspection which may cause a delay in delivery. This is at the discretion of your country and their import laws and unfortunately, we are unable to expedite this process. 

How much is shipping?

Real-time shipping rates will be calculated at checkout based on the order volume and delivery destination. 

Shipping Methods (all rates include tracking)

Canada: The most cost-effective shipping option currently available is through Canada Post.
The cost of shipping is calculated at checkout in real-time by postal code. 

USA: US-bound orders ship with our cross-border courier and get handed off to USPS or UPS.
Shipping rates are calculated at checkout. 

International: Orders shipping outside of Canada and the US will be shipped with your choice of DHL or Canada Post (with final delivery by your country's national post). Shipping rates are calculated at checkout.
International shipments (outside of Canada and the US) are subject to customs and brokerage fees. While your shipping charge includes the cost of shipping and handling, this does not include import duties and taxes that may be charged at the discretion of your country's border services agency. These charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer/importer. 

When will my order ship?

Once you submit your order, it is placed in our production and fulfillment queue.
On each product page, there will be a stated ETA which reflects our current queue in real-time. 
Your order status page may state "unfulfilled" during this time while your purchase is being measured, cut, pressed, sewn, polished, packaged and sealed for shipment! You will receive a shipment notification once each item in your order has been packaged and shipped!

Made-to-order:
All items unless stated "ready to ship" will dispatch within 2 weeks from the date orders are placed.
Ready to Ship:
Items marked "In Stock!" within the item desciption 2-3 business days unless ordered along with a made-to-order item. 

Delivery times will vary according to your area.

Can I pick up my order instead of having it shipped? 

Local pickup is not available at this time, however, delivery within the Greater Vancouver Area will average 1-2 days via Canada Post once your order ships!You can also redeem points via our rewards program to help offset your shipping!

When will my order arrive once it has shipped? 

Greater Vancouver averages 1-3 days after dispatch
US & Canada averages 1 week for delivery after dispatch
UK/EU averages 1 week with DHL, 2-3 weeks with Canada Post after dispatch***
AU/NZ averages 1 week with DHL, 2-3 weeks with Canada Post after dispatch***

* Please note that delays may incur with orders that are processed or shipped during a statutory holiday. In this case, please expect an additional 2 business days until delivery.
** Delivery to rural areas may also take longer than average.

Can I change an incorrect shipping address? 

Please contact us immediately after placing your order to change your shipping address.
If your order is in transit, you may try to contact the postal carrier to see if they can redirect the shipment to the correct address. 

If your package is sent back to our dispatch depot, we can re-ship your order when the original shipment arrives and we confirm the correct shipping address, however, an additional shipping charge will apply. 

What if my order did not arrive? 

We understand that a missing shipment can be frustrating.
If you believe your shipment has been lost, we recommend the following:

  1. Be sure to check with your local post office or community mailbox first.
    Deliveries will most often be there.
  2. If your order has been marked as delivered but has not been received, please wait 48 business hours as it may still deliver.
  3. If your order is missing and you have a tracking number available, you should contact the postal company delivering your shipment.

If the above solutions have not worked, the postal carrier may choose to open an investigation into locating your shipment.
Canada Post and USPS may require up to 4 weeks for the investigation to conclude or 8 weeks for international shipments. During this process, we will be here to support you and keep you informed of the status of the investigation as information becomes available to us.
Until the investigation includes, a refund or replacement cannot be issued.
If the postal company determines that the shipment cannot be recovered, we can then discuss issuing either a replacement or refund.

My order just shipped but the tracking has not updated

When you receive your shipment notification, you will receive a tracking number which usually begins tracking within 24 to 48 hours. 

Please note that orders that ship out on Friday may not scan until Monday.
This will not impact delivery estimates.

International Orders (Outside of Canada & the USA)

International Import Duties, Taxes and Inspection

With international orders, your purchase will be subject to import taxes and brokerage/processing fees. These charges are the sole responsibility of the buyer/importer.
While your shipping charge includes the cost of shipping and handling, this does not include the cost of import duties and taxes charged by your country's customs import agency, or by the courier company which processes these duties and taxes upon delivery.

International shipments may also be subject to customs inspection which may cause a delay in delivery. Unfortunately, this is out of our control and is at the sole discretion of your country's customs import agency

Returns & Exchanges

Do you accept returns or exchanges? 

As each item is uniquely tailor-made to order to the specifications you've selected, we are unable to accept returns or exchanges.

If the wrong item was sent or an item is missing from your order, please contact us and we will work with you to make it right!
Please note that we do not assume any responsibility for any unauthorized returns that are lost en route. 

Note: Damage to any of our accessories from pet behavior or elements such as excessive scratching, chewing, fading or tarnishing of hardware are not eligible for refund or replacement.

Product Availability

Are sold out items restocked?

Styles marked "limited-edition" will not be restocked once sold out, however, some of our mainstay items may just be temporarily sold out while we await a restock of our textiles.
If you'd like to be notified if an item returns in stock, just send us an email with a link to the item! 

Can I request modifications beyond the standard available size?

To ensure each order is produced as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality, our catalogue is only available in a selection of pre-set sizes and hardware options at this time. 

If you're looking for a particular style, you're welcome to get in touch and we'll consider your request when we work on our next collection!

Can I order an XS or Cat collars? 

These sizes are not currently available in our made-to-order catalog, however, we'll occasionally have limited-edition items in the studio in a variety of sizes! Join our Insider's List to get notified of when these releases become available! 

Can I order 1.5” Wide Collars? 

This width is currently unavailable for our made-to-order items however, we'll occasionally have limited-edition items in the studio in a variety of widths!

What if the size I want isn't listed as an option?

We may only have certain sizes and widths available to order from in certain styles.
If the size you're looking to order is not available within the drop-down menu, this size will not be available to order, however, we'll occasionally have limited-edition items in the studio in a variety of styles and widths! Join our Insider's List to get notified of when these releases become available!

While we would love to work on your unique design, we're unable to take on custom orders at this time. If you're looking for a particular style, you're welcome to get in touch and we'll consider your request when we work on our next collection!

How to Wash Your Pup's Items

  • Hand wash or machine wash on a gentle cycle with our wash bag.
  • Use a mild detergent and warm water
  • Thoroughly dry off all metal components with a soft cloth after washing and lay flat to dry 

Stain Guard

Pressing

If wrinkled, press as needed by adjusting the collar or harness straps to their largest settings. With the fabric-side facing up, cover straps with a press cloth (or tea towel), gently press each strap with steam. For stubborn wrinkles, spritz fabric side with water, replace pressing cloth and resume pressing with steam. Do not directly place the iron on polyester items!

How to Wash Your Pup's Items

Gently hand washing as needed will bring new life to your pup's dirty collar.
Use a mild detergent, warm water and lay flat to dry for best results.
Thoroughly dry all metal components with a soft cloth after washing but before setting out to dry.
Some items may have more specific care instructions such as spot cleaning, though this will be noted within the item description.

Hardware Care

Depending on your pet's pH, your environment and pet's lifestyle, hardware discolouration and surface abrasion to the metal finish may occur. This is completely normal for metal components.

Metal ID tags may scratch, dent and chip plating. To avoid this, opt for tags that have a rubber bumper around the edge OR attach the ID tag to the slide-adjuster vs, the d-ring. 

To clean up brass hardware and have it sparkling like new, a non-toxic jeweller's rouge polishing cloth can restore the sparkle and shine of our Brass hardware components.

How to Wash

Applies to Polyester, Rayon Challis, Poplin, Cotton and Cotton Flannel Bandanas

  • Hand wash or machine wash on delicate
  • Toss in the dryer or lay flat to dry

Pressing Instructions:

(Note: If your item has vinyl decals, press the reverse side using a tea towel)

  • Lay on a flat surface and cover with a pressing cloth (or tea towel)
  • Press using medium heat and steam (for stubborn wrinkles, spritz fabric with water, recover with your pressing cloth and repeat pressing process)

Detachable Bow Tie & Flower Care

How to Wash Your Pup's Detachable Bow or Flower

Spot clean with a mild detergent and warm water.

Reshape as needed

  1. Lay the bow over a tea towel on a flat surface
  2. Protect the velcro by folding the tea towel over the tabs
  3. Hold a prepped iron (already hot and steamy!) appx. 1"-2" above the bow tie or flower and hit the steam. Let the bow cool for several seconds and pinch the bow in the centre, then the top and bottom pleats, smoothing the textile as you go.
  4. Repeat as needed.

To extend the life of detachable accessories and ensure the safety of your pet, remove collar accessories when your pet is adventuring or left unattended.

Warranty of Manufacturing Defects

While extremely rare, we do offer a 90-day guarantee from manufacturing defects.
Beyond 90-days is considered regular wear and tear.
Please note that an item damaged due to excessive scratching or chewing, scratched or tarnished hardware is not eligible for replacement.
If you have a concern regarding the product, you will be required to submit a well-lit, high-resolution image of the outside of the collar, leash or harness as well as the inner straps of the collar, leash and harness so we can determine the cause of the damage. 

To ensure your pup gets the most out of their collar and to prevent unnecessary wear and tear of their new accessory, you may find our care instructions to be helpful!
